Fifty-Five

Want to have your cake & eat it too?  Try the Fifty-Five.  We set out to explore the possibilities in this emerging niche, but with our own twist.  What we found is a highly capable race machine.

We spliced our favorite bikes' genes: The great stability & feel of 29" wheels, and the quick accereration, handling & climbing prowess of a 26" race bike. The Fifty-Five is a proven endurance racer, claiming podium finishes throughout 2007, its inaugural year.

It's a simple formula: 26+29=Siren Fifty-Five

Starting at $1140 USD

Comparing the Fifty-Five to 26”ers

The relative benefits of 29” wheels are now well established; most of them coming from the front end of the bike.  You'll appreciate the longer contact patch in the corners and loose terrain, and the improved "roll-ability" over obstacles. New Fifty-Five owners tell us they have more control and confidence than they did on their old 26" bikes.

Comparing the Fifty-Five to full 29”ers

On the back end, the Fifty-Five’s shorter chainstays keep the bike feeling lively & quick while maintaining good tire and front derailleur clearance.  Less relative bottom bracket drop affords quicker handling than a full 29”er for a given bottom bracket height (see illustration).  Also, the 26” tire’s contact patch is more “beneath” you, less “behind” you. Customers coming from full 29"ers say it climbs better, especially in loose, “touchy” situations.

Compared to a full 29”er, many riders say they feel more “above” the wheels rather than between them, and that they have more control over the front end of the bike.  The Fifty-Five can easily accommodate smaller riders, and we specialize in women’s specific geometry.
